Lazy and lovely

July 6, 2004

Rama plays Sungka in Mom & Dad’s lovely backyard,
this lazy 4th of July weekend

Other weekend indulgences: Reading comics in Griffith Park, a delicious afternoon nap, an IKEA shopping spree, barbecued ribs and mini ice cream sandwiches, Shrek 2 at the local theater (courtesy of free movie passes) and Pass the Pigs, a new favorite

How did you indulge yourself this weekend?

  1. Anne says:

I want to learn playing Sungka.

How I indulged myself this weekend.. well, one might say that after my boyfriend and I split up on Friday night, I indulged myself in self-pity. (read: typical female rituals like taking long warm showers, facial sauna’s, scrubs and massages, all alone, reading Pablo Neruda’s saddest poem again and again).

  2. Rachel says:

I didn’t set the alarm Sunday night and let myself sleep to my heart’s content on Monday morning. I literally woke up with a smile on my face. Fabulous.

  3. lisaann says:

i played boggle for the first time since i played w/you and rama months ago. it was so fun! miss you xo

  4. Allison says:

  5. beezus says:

spent saturday morning teaching my kids how to make desserts with graham crackers. seeing them amaze themselves is so rewarding. they couldn’t believe they could create something delicious. we can all be delicious. :-)

  6. flow says:

this weekend? hmm… Im going to the jogging field near my homestay. Its time for me to say goodbye to my thick thigh :P

  7. lucia says:

my weekend indulgences: old friends coming together to just laugh! karaoke revolution, speed uno, singaporian films, palms springs and their natural hot springs, chasing fireworks, homemade jamaica cooler, tuba (coconut wine) from the Philippines, drumstick ice cream and more food – thai and spicy, new zealand mussels, spring rolls, vietnamese omelettes, 7 layer dips, pancit and lots of korean bbq ribs. my tummy is still full from this weekend.

  8. ninds says:

Oh how funny, you guys call it Sungka, we Indonesians call it congklak.

I stayed in bed a lot. It was a fantastic time.

  9. Stephanie says:

I indulged in eating cookies, reading a young adult novel, enjoying the air conditioning, and listening to lots of new music. :)

  10. maritha says:

And I think another language calls it mancala. I love the game.

  11. miha says:

    i peed in the pacific

  12. Bex says:

I ran 8 miles, wrote an essay for class, did 5 loads of laundry, saw “The Hunting of the President” and watched the fireworks over the Capitol in Washington, D.C.

  13. Gracey says:

Wow we almost had the same weekend. I had went to IKEA for some shopping spree as well, watched Shrek 2, a lot of naps *laughs*, more shopping downtown, and went out with friends for drinks. :)

  14. Annie Dwyer Internicola says:

I haven’t seen Pass the Pigs in a LONG time! I forgot all about it.

My husband Billy, one-year-old son Jacob, and I went to Boothbay Harbor, Maine with some of my relatives. We had a cottage on the bay. Billy & I went scavenging (is that a word?) for sea glass during low tide. I felt like a little kid again. We ate more seafood in one weekend than we had all year, snacked on Oreo ice cream sandwiches, and played Scrabble at night. It was bliss.
