bacon is art. cooking it, eating it, basking in its greasy glow. it's high time someone's finally recognized it! artists craig sjursen and brandon shimoda are collecting works on bacon for an upcoming multimedia exhibit and book. if you love bacon (and of course you do, 'cause you're here) and have something to say about it, let the guys know and you can be a part of something good.

today, my parents and i went to pink's hot dog stand on la brea & melrose (an institution here in LA). the line wove around like an S and lasted at least 30 minutes, like a ride at disneyland. the menu is packed with an interesting selection of 'dogs: from your basic chili cheese dog (which i ordered) to the the Brooklyn Dog with pastrami and swiss to veggie and vegan dogs. there's even one named after Martha Stewart. but i noticed that the most popular add-on, after kraut, was bacon, at four slices for a buck-and-ten. i couldn't believe how many people ordered hot dogs with chili and cheese and onions and bacon, too. there was no name for that one, but i think the Heart Attack Dog might suffice.

do you think it's counter-productive, as far as eating more healthfully is concerned, to order a turkey burger with bacon and cheese?
