We are getting married in 2 weeks and 1 day! The past month, I have been scrambling to check things off the big to-do list. Wrapping up Darling projects. Tackling wedding tasks. Moving most of my things. There are some journal entries and email responses that floated in my head but never got written, because I kept feeling just too. darned. busy.

But as the wedding approaches, I am learning to let go of perfect and “yes” to everything. I am remembering to take many naps and TV breaks. I am trying, desperately, to be present every moment I’m in.

I know the next two weeks have the potential to become one big blur, but, gosh, I hope not. I want to soak in the details, the joy, the madness and the love.

So far, so good.

The next two weeks will propel you toward many wonderful memories. 15 years later (like me) you’ll still feel the joy, madness and love…and your happiness will sustain you both! All the best-

  2. christine says:

    oh christine! congratulations!

  3. Erma says:

I always get so excited for brides-to-be! I hope you don’t experience one big blur, I’d love to read about all the good details afterwards. xoxo

  4. Amanda says:

Christine, I have been reading your site off and on for over three years. I have always loved it, and I am so happy for you that you are getting married.

  5. lori says:

Congratulations! You’ve got the right attitude…just enjoy yourself and don’t worry about all of the perfectness that everyone seems to crave on that day. Even if imperfections occur, they’ll just add to the specialness of your experience. Have a wonderful wedding!

  6. cat says:

christine, that’s fabulous & exciting & fabulously exciting. congratulations to you both!

  7. Mer says:

Congratulations! Can’t wait to hear details when, at last, you breathe again (though it sounds like you’re making wonderful steps to live deeply these next few weeks). Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy–and of course, post pictures!!

And I’ve been meaning to leave a comment of introduction for weeeeeks now. I’m Meridith, an artist/writer/photographer/eclectic soul now living in upstate New York, and I’ve been a fan of your work for a long time since I discovered your site through a search for Rosie Thomas’ work (in fact, now that I write this, I may have left a similar comment when I first found this). Well, a few weeks ago (at her NJ concert) I had a chance to chat with Rosie Thomas before and after the show. I told her that, while my aging car has no music playing ability besides radio, I would have played “Wedding Day” the whole way when I moved to New York from Michigan last fall. And I also told her that I’m thankful for having found your work through that serendipitous search long ago. ‘ve been creating a lot more lately, and your words/art/everything, and your link to Penelope’s site, are very much responsible which is a very, very good thing.

And last night I rewatched “Amelie” for the bazillionth time. Is it ok if I declare that you and I are kindred spirits, even if we’ve never met?

I will provide a link to my upcoming site soon. And I would love to send you a mix tape/cd and package of dear little things, if that would be ok?
