Every time I think I know what&#8217;s best for me, especially the times when I make grand declarations as to what those things are, I am humbled by the beautiful and unexpected reality.<\/p>\n<p>When I decided it was time to quit the Internet and return to print, an artist I admired asked me to help redesign her web site. When I concluded I should be single a good, long while, Rama walked into my life. When I stopped believing in my little childhood dream, a successful stationer wrote to me, asking if I had ever considered <a title=\"footnote\" onmouseover=\"window.status=' footnote '; return true\" href=\"javascript:alert('Which I had, which I have always been doing, since I was a little girl folding letterhead in half and scrawling silly messages on them');\">designing cards<\/a>. And now, this: I had just started to get overwhelmed by making and selling my darling little printed goods when I got word that <a target=\"_new\" href=\"http:\/\/darlingshoppe.com\/shoppe\/notes\/sweetnotes.php\">a card of mine<\/a> was going to be featured in <a target=\"_new\" href=\"http:\/\/www.homecompanionmag.com\">Mary Engelebreit Home Companion magazine<\/a>. This was especially amazing because Mary Englebreit was an art <a title=\"footnote\" onmouseover=\"window.status=' footnote '; return true\" href=\"javascript:alert('Not to mention that I am featured alongside some of my favorite stationery designers.');\">hero of mine<\/a> growing up.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s almost as if I have to make a wild and false declaration for something really good to happen.<\/p>\n<p>Or maybe I have to trust the voice inside me that whispers my wishes and dares to make them true.<\/p>\n<p>All I know for sure is I&#8217;m so lucky that in spite of my poor judgement and silly insecurities that I am continually proven wrong.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the past few years, I have learned a very important lesson: I don&#8217;t know much.
