episode three: at the café.

he did not open the door for her, so she pulled it open and walked into the café. she followed him toward the counter, but he paused to talk to his friend sitting at one of the tables. the space was narrow. there was no room to walk.

"excuse me," she said, meekly.

he did not move. she leaned in, as if to whisper sweet nothings in his ear.

"excuse me," she repeated. this time with conviction.

but he just stood there, oblivious.

"jesus christ," she muttered, loud enough for the couple beside her to hear. they chuckled. she gave them an embarrassed grin and stepped back for a second. just as her right hand was about to give his shoulder a tap (or perhaps a shove), he moved.

"figures," she said, nodding her head in disbelief as she made her way up to the counter.
